Mottram Hall Wedding Photography | Ryan & Jess

Until Death Do Us Part

An Alternative Halloween Wedding At One Of Cheshire’s Finest Wedding Venues

Coffins, skulls and black confetti…Jess and Ryan were never going to have a bog standard wedding but as their day took place only a few days after Halloween and this date held significance to their relationship there was only ever one possible theme – Til Death Do Us Part.

As soon as Jess and Ryan got in touch and told me all about their Mottram Hall wedding I knew it would be a photographer’s dream. I couldn’t wait to see all their plans come to life (no pun
intended)!

Until Death Do Us Part

An Until Death Do Us Part wedding is a great way to put an alternative spin on your wedding celebrations. Think moody, gothic, untraditional but most of all..Fun!

Jess and Ryan asked all their guests to wear black and red. Ryan, an award winning tattoo artist, was dressed all in black, accessorising his dapper outfit with a skull topped cane. Jess wore a stunning white wedding dress from Forever Yours Cheshire. The strapless style showed off her amazing tattoos. Jess had spent the morning being pampered by Salon 51 and Amie Louise Makeup. Ryan’s face as she walked towards him said it all, he couldn’t take his eyes off his bride!

I Do Venue Dressing had done an amazing job with all the décor. I’d never seen anything like it. Mottram Hall’s ceremony room was decked out in red and black – red rose petals snaked their way down the black aisle carpet whilst hundreds of candles lit the room. Over 8 thousand red rose petals were scattered throughout, including in the shape of an enormous heart at the top of the aisle. Red velvet drapes for the couple to stand under completed the scene.

Ceremony over and all the formalities completed, a beaming Ryan and Jess led their guests outside for confetti – black confetti that Ryan had spent hours putting together. These two have got
such an eye for detail!

We braved the winter weather for a few portraits. When a couple are this cool it makes my job so easy! We threw a couple of smoke bombs into the mix and the results were epic!

While the guests were enjoying drinks and canapes I Do Venue Dressing had been working hard switching the room around ready for the wedding breakfast, I was expecting something sensational and wasn’t disappointed. Now, I’ve seen some absolutely incredible wedding cakes in my time but this one – topped with a skull and placed on a real coffin – has to be one of the best ever!

Time To Wake The Dead & Get This Party Started

Jess and Ryan had a surprise in store for their guests, in the form of the brilliant Howard Wing. He soon had everyone dancing and singing along. Howard had even dressed for the occasion with his skull and cross bones braces! Howard got everyone out of their seats with a raucous version of Blue Moon – although it was less fun for any Utd fans in the room!

As night fell the three of us made our way outside for some more bride and groom portraits. I love getting a bit creative on a wedding day. Jess and Ryan were up for anything, threw in some of their
own ideas and we got some incredible stuff.

Then it was time to party! Jess and Ryan were determined to put their own stamp on everything and their first dance was no different. To cheers from their guests they threw themselves into a choreographed dance routine followed by the first dance to Bullet For My Valentine. This started the party off in style and the dancefloor was packed. Here are some of my favourite images from the day – check out the Mexican Day of the Dead face paint by the talented I Sparkle Face Painters.

Wedding photography at Mottram Hall

Mottram Hall, set amidst 270 acres of grounds, is a Grade II listed building dating back to the 1700s. A former country house it’s been lovingly restored and is now a luxury hotel and one of the
most popular wedding venues in Cheshire. Jess and Ryan fell in love with the location – and the incredible food – and knew straight away that they wanted to hold their wedding there. If you’re thinking of getting married at Mottram Hall then I’d love to chat to you about your wedding photography. Get in touch!
